Primary fields of research

My primary research interest is diplomatic practice at the United Nations Security Council. I focus on the Council's changing concepts of security as it stems from new roles ascribed to human rights in UN security policy. Some of the issues covered in my research include:

  • The Security Council: negotiations, reform, political dynamics, etc.
  • Human rights in security policy
  • Responsibility to Protect
  • Peacekeeping
  • Protection of civilians
  • Sovereignty/intervention
  • The politics of international law
  • Diplomatic practice theory
  • Qualitative field work

In the spring semester of 2017 I teach the course: The UN Security Council: Political dynamics and diplomatic practice (http://kurser.ku.dk/course/astk15466u/2016-2017)

My supervisor is Kristian Søby Kristensen
